The perfect family sedan

Could the Impreza WRX STI be a family car? Yes! Two isofixes on the back bench, a spacious trunk for a medium stroller. The Impreza is a great family car. The second generation of this Japanese sedan was produced between 2000 and 2007. During its lifetime, this generation was even facelifted twice. You can immediately recognize the upgrade by the headlights with distinctive nicknames - "Bugeye", "Blobeye" and "Hawkeye".

In the Impreza, Subaru used six gasoline four-cylinder flat-mounted boxer engines. From the classic 1.5 EJ15 with 100 horsepower to the two-liter to the supercharged two and a half. However, the smaller 2.0-liter codenamed EJ207 with 320 horsepower had the most power, it powered the top version of the Impreza with the attributes WRX STI. In 2004, in addition, Subaru came up with a few modifications for the sports version, which the pilot of the Subaru WRC factory team, Petter Solberg, helped to develop. This "evolution" is also known as the Solberg Edition. Only 555 units were produced worldwide, of which 150 units were intended for the European market.

One of them is currently for sale in our little Slovakia. In the signature shade of blue with blown fenders and a huge rear wing, it looks really fantastic. And the huge opening in the hood, through which cold air flows directly to the intercooler, can be recognized even from a great distance. To top it all off, Subaru also added a bigger turbo to this version. The blue Impreza WRX STI is in beautiful original condition. It does not have a single flaw on the bodywork, it can be seen that it has had caring owners throughout its life. What surprises me more is its origin. The service book says that it was sold for the first time in Prievidza in 2004. You really don't see that often. Not even the big inscription on the instruction manual. Use gasoline with an octane number of 98 or higher!

The Japanese girl has an original turbocharged two-liter under the hood with a stated output of 330 horsepower (246 kW) and 480 Nm of torque. Power is distributed by a center differential with continuous adjustment between the front and rear axles. By pressing the right buttons, the family car instantly becomes a sharp sports special. The Subaru is shod on Toyo R888R tires and original gold colored rims. This combination is truly immortal. Behind the wheels, large Brembo brakes with new pads and discs are hidden in the shadows. Large aprons with red STI lettering are the perfect addition to the Impreza's fenders. The cold start in the garage is still ringing in my ears.

The interior is really well preserved. The sports seats have minor signs of use, after all, 253,000 kilometers have already been ridden in them. The original carpets with WRX inscriptions are interesting. They are really resistant to use. Although there is a sports steering wheel in the cabin, the original steering wheel is also part of the sale, as is the radio. At the same time, the sounds coming from the exhaust and from the engine were just unnecessary weight. In its place, there is a blank in the center panel with a carbon finish and Subaru emblem. It reminds of the times when the Impreza drove the WRC. A handy helper in the car is the Turbo timer from HKS, which displays the current state of the engine parameters and takes care of the ideal cooling of the engine. With a treated chassis and a new technical and emission control, it is waiting for its new owner.
